The mobilisation of micro and small companies becomes an OSH priority in France

The National Research and Safety Institute (INRS) has developed a methodology based on partnership building and a sectoral approach to mobilise micro and small companies (MSEs).

Following an evaluation of the state of play in the field of prevention for MSEs, the methods focus on four targeted sectors, including road transport, restoration, car repair and masonry.  As the particularities and delicate nature of the MSE make challenging to set up long-term action plans, the methodology includes specific approaches and objectives to address OSH issues efficiently.

The methodology is an outcome of an INRS’s project which started in 2009 with the aim of assessing the risks and prevention aspects within MSEs to improve OSH conditions at the workplace. It has been developed within the framework of the EU Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work 2014-2020, the ‘Plans Santé au Travail n◦ 2 et n◦ 3’ and the ‘Convention d’Objectifs et de Gestion (COG) AT/MP 2014-2017’.
