This tool deals with agriculture which can be characterized by a huge amount of various risk factors - contact with animals, work with heavy agricultural equipment, exposure to various chemicals, seasonal work, prolonged working hours etc. It starts with the identification of hazards and assesses the level of risk, then it allows end-users to choose the most suitable preventive actions to eliminate or reduce risk. Also included are tips for prevention of accidents related to work with animals, reduce workload on back and joints, implement fire safety principles and eliminate fall risks. This tool is an easy way to improve working conditions of agricultural workers.  Using this tool can contribute to keep them healthy, motivated and with good work ability.

The agricultural sector is one of the most dangerous sectors having high figures on accidents at work. Accidents often occur due to inappropriate machinery, unprotected parts of the machinery, not preventing workers from entering hazardous areas etc.
Employees assigned to work with agricultural machinery are often not trained properly about safety and health at work and are not aware of the safety and health requirements set by the equipment manufacturer for the operation of the equipment. in addition people working in the sector are facing risks related to dealing with dangerous substances, high physical workload because of manual handling, etc.
Proper health and safety risk assessments done with this tool, can prevent many of these risks and help the employer to find proper solutions.

Žemės ūkio veikla yra laikoma viena iš pavojingiausių ekonominės veiklos sektorių nelaimingiems atsitikimams darbe įvykti. Nelaimingi atsitikimai darbe dažniausiai įvyksta dėl tokių priežasčių bendrovėse, individualiuose ūkiuose naudojama netvarkinga technika, neapsaugotos įrenginių judančios dalys, užkertančios galimybes darbuotojams patekti į pavojingas zonas ir kiti.

The agricultural sector has high levels of occupational accidents throughout the Portuguese territory, consisting mainly of small farms. Accidents generally occur due to improper machinery, unprotected moving parts, overconfidence of operators, lack of proper training and disregard for the correct use of safety devices and safety instructions provided by manufacturers. In addition, workers in the sector are subject to various risks related to the lack of use of appropriate protective equipment, the handling of hazardous chemicals, high physical effort and adverse environmental conditions, among others. Correct risk assessment of existing hazards using this tool can prevent many of them and help the employer implement the appropriate solutions for their elimination / control.

O setor agrícola apresenta níveis de sinistralidade laboral elevados, encontrando-se presente em todo o território português, sendo constituído fundamentalmente por pequenas explorações. Os acidentes ocorrem geralmente devido a máquinas inadequadas, com partes móveis desprotegidas, excesso de confiança dos operadores, falta de formação adequada e, desrespeito pela correta utilização dos dispositivos de segurança e pelas instruções de segurança disponibilizadas pelos fabricantes. A par destas situações, os trabalhadores do setor encontram-se sujeitos a diversos riscos relacionados com a falta de utilização dos equipamentos de proteção adequados, o manuseamento de substâncias químicas perigosas, o elevado esforço físico, as condições ambientais adversas, entre outros. Uma correta avaliação de riscos dos riscos existente, recorrendo a esta ferramenta, pode prevenir muitos deles e ajudar o empregador a implementar as soluções adequadas à sua eliminação/controlo.

The primary purpose of the Icelandic version of the agricultural OiRA tool is to help farmers to improve their working conditions and minimise risk at the farm. It is easy to use, free and open to all.

With OiRA, users get a tool in their hands that helps them to assess the risks in their own work environment. The tool evaluates the risks and returns the results in a report that is only to be seen and used by the farmer or workers at the farm.

The tool sets out proposals and examples of improvements in the working environment. There are also references to laws and regulations, number of images for explanation and links to more informative material.

Emphasis is placed on fire and accident prevention and handling of machines. Health factors are assessed and risk by infectious diseases is discussed. The general condition of the farm is assessed since it is a part of potential risk factors which have to be taken into consideration. Also included are tips for prevention of accidents related to work with animals, reduce workload on back and joints and instructions to eliminate fall risks.

Proper health and safety risk assessments done with the Oira tool, can prevent many accidents and help the employer to find proper solutions.

Öryggis- og vinnuverndarmál eru mikilvægur þáttur í rekstri í nútímalandbúnaði. Oira-verkfærið hjálpar bændum og öðrum sem starfa við landbúnað að meta þær áhættur sem felast í starfsumhverfinu. Rafrænu áhættumati er ætlað að vera leiðarvísir fyrir notandann og minnka líkur á slysum.

Þegar búið er að svara öllum þáttum áhættumatsins skilar Oira skýrslu til notandans sem er eingöngu aðgengileg honum og til eigin notkunar.

Áhersla er lögð á brunavarnir, slysavarnir og meðferð og umgengni við vélar. Heilsufarsþættir eru metnir og einnig er farið yfir gildi smitvarna. Ásýnd og býlis og umgengni hefur sitt að segja um áhættustig og eru þeir þættir einnig teknir til skoðunar.

Oira-áhættumatið er unnið í samvinnu Vinnueftirlitsins og Bændasamtaka Íslands. Það er byggt á leiðbeiningahefti um öryggi og vinnuvernd í landbúnaði sem er aðgengilegt á www.bondi.is.

Bakers work in manufacturing facilities that produce bread, pastries, and other baked products. Bakers' work is demanding and relatively difficult. It is very often exposed to various dangers and risks of rotating tools and moving parts, burns from cooking and heating liquids. Bakers work with their hands or fingers and are occasionally exposed to extreme heat or cold while working outside or in cold storages. Work is continuously performed in artificial light at high temperatures and humid fluctuations with the presence of fine particles (flour, sugar powder) and excessive noise. The OiRA tool for bakers deals with general and specific risks at work. This risk assessment contains proposed solutions to reduce or eliminate the risks. All requirements, listed in the OiRA tool, are linked to legislation.

Delo peka je zahtevno in relativno težko. Pogosto je izpostavljen različnim nevarnostim in možnostim poškodb z orodji in gibljivimi deli strojev, opeklin pri pečenju in gretju tekočin ali udarcev pri transportu. Dela stoje z obračanjem, pripogibanjem in dviganjem lažjih bremen. Med hojo prenaša in potiska bremena. Dela z rokami oziroma s prsti. Občasno je izpostavljen visoki vročini ali mrazu pri zunanjih opravilih in delu pri zamrzovalnih napravah. Stalno dela pri umetni svetlobi pri velikih temperaturnih spremembah, v vlagi, ob prisotnosti drobnih delcev (moka, sladkor v prahu) v zraku in v hrupu. To orodje obravnava  tveganja pri delu peka. Poleg ocene tveganj vsebuje tudi predloge, kako tveganja zmanjšati ali povsem odpraviti. Zahteve, ki jih podaja orodje so vezane na predpise, ki jih lahko uporabnik med ocenjevanjem tveganja tudi pregleda.

Au cours du développement de l’outil belge OiRA Boulangeries, les risques potentiels liés au secteur des boulangers ont été mis sous la loupe et ont démontrés que les entreprises doivent être plus attentives aux risques qu’elles encourent ainsi que leurs employeurs. Ces risques sont par exemple liés aux glissades et trébuchements, la farinose, les risques liés au client, etc. L’outil OIRA boulangerie est né d’une collaboration intensive entre les organisations patronales et syndicales du secteur de la boulangerie, Alimento (conseiller de l’industrie alimentaire) et le SPF Emploi.

Tijdens de ontwikkelingsfase van de Belgische OiRA Bakkers werden de mogelijke risico’s in de bakkerijsector onder de loep genomen en werd benadrukt dat bedrijven werkzaam in de sector zich meer bewust moeten worden van de risico’s waarmee zijzelf en hun personeel geconfronteerd worden. Deze slaan bijvoorbeeld op uitglijden en struikelen, risico op farinose, risico’s verbonden aan de klant, …OiRA Bakkers kwam tot stand door een intensieve samenwerking tussen de werkgevers- en werknemersorganisaties van de bakkerijsector, Alimento (de opleidings- en personeelsadviseur van de voedingsnijverheid), en FOD WASO.

Bakers / confectioners work in facilities where bread, cakes, fresh pastries, snacks (fried, tender dough and puff pastry) and regional confectionery are made. Their work is demanding and is carried out under difficult environmental conditions. The work is mostly performed under artificial light, at high temperatures accompanied by variations in humidity, in the presence of breathable particles, explosive atmospheres and excessive noise. The existence of night work, exposure to biological agents and manual handling of cargo are other risk factors present in the manufacture of bakery / pastry products naturally affecting all who work there. Thus, this OiRA tool addresses the main hazards that exist in the various work areas, from receiving raw materials to storing and shipping final products. The tool also addresses issues associated with emergencies, psychosocial and stress risks, as well as structural, environmental and occupational safety and health management hazards / risks. It allows an assessment of existing risks, suggests measures to control those risks and also produces an action plan to be implemented.

Os padeiros/pasteleiros trabalham em instalações onde se procede à fabricação de pão, bolos, pastelaria fresca, salgados (fritos, massa tenra e folhada) e doçaria regional. O seu trabalho é exigente e desenvolve-se em condições ambientais difíceis. O trabalho é realizado maioritariamente sob luz artificial, a altas temperaturas acompanhadas de variações de humidade, em presença de partículas respiráveis, atmosferas explosivas e ruído excessivo. A existência de trabalho noturno, a exposição a agentes biológicos e, a movimentação manual de cargas, são outros dos fatores de risco presentes na fabricação de produtos de padaria/pastelaria afetando naturalmente todos os que aí trabalham. Assim, esta ferramenta OiRA aborda os principais perigos/riscos existentes nas diversas áreas de trabalho, desde a receção das matérias primas, até ao armazenamento e expedição dos produtos finais. A ferramenta aborda ainda a problemática associada às emergências, aos riscos psicossociais e de stresse, bem como, os perigos/riscos estruturais, ambientais e de gestão da segurança e saúde no trabalho. Esta ferramenta permite efetuar uma avaliação dos riscos existentes, sugere medidas a implementar para o controlo desses riscos e, produz ainda um plano de ação a ser implementado.
