OiRA tool for electrical work is a great tool for general risk assessment when doing electrical work. This tool is mainly focused on basic electrical work and is designed for small or medium sized companies. This tool does not replace more complex risk assessments for bigger or more complex projects were there are very high safety standards. But it´s a great tool as a basic risk assessment for companies without access to any risk assessments. This project is a collaboration between Rafmennt and the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health in Iceland. All hints regarding this tool can be sent at rafmennt@rafmennt.is.

Wholesale and retail of non-food products

Wholesale and retail sales of non-food products is a complex economic activity because  a variety of lifting equipment for heavy loads is used in this sector and so on. This OiRA is developed specifically for those companies which carry out both  wholesale trade in warehouses and retail sales in sales markets. It is obvious that the retail trade is a less dangerous activity, because lifting equipment are less frequently used. However, the manual handling of loads is classified as hazardous work and may affect the health of workers and the various spinal diseases because of the lifting heavy loads.
