COVID-19

In 2020 during the onsets of the pandemic EU-OSHA has developed this tailored tool to support safe working conditions under COVID-19 restrictions. In 2021 this revised version has been published, now covering a broader range of activities and including more information on testing and vaccination.

The interactive tool can help in identifying, assessing and managing the risks posed by COVID-19 and ensuring that workers come back to a safe and healthy environment. It includes information on how to handle crucial aspects like physical distancing and hygenic measures. It further covers a range of situations, including what to do if a worker has COVID-19 symptoms, travelling to and from work safely and managing external service providers.

Audiovisual Productions

Employees, crews, performers and all other staff involved in audiovisual productions are constantly exposed to risks that can lead to injuries and other health repercussions.

This tool is intended to anyone who aims to assess the health and safety risks related to audiovisual productions such as feature films, short films, documentaries, television series, commercials, video clips, video art, virtual reality and so on.

The EU OiRA tool is the result of the project titled “Developing an Online Interactive Risk Assessment tool for film and TV productions” and was developed in a cooperation between the European Social partners of the sector, the European Coordination of Independent Producers (CEPI), the International Federation of Actors (FIA), the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), the International Federation of Musicians (FIM) and UNI Europa - media, entertainment & arts and with the support of EU-OSHA.

Construction (outdoor work)

This tool is intended for companies that perform construction work outdoors (e.g. work on roof, insultation works, decoration and restoration of facades). Construction in general is a sector characterised by multiple risk factors, including falling of workers and objects, exposure to dust and fibres, noise, vibration, weather conditions unsuitable for work, work in awkward postures and heavy object lifting and moving. It starts with the identification of hazards and it assesses the level of risk, allowing end-users to choose the most suitable preventive actions to eliminate or reduce the risk(s). The tool also includes safety requirements for scaffolding and personal protective equipment for fall prevention, tips on ergonomics, protection of respiratory system and safe use of work equipment. These allow employees to protect themselves from accidents resulting from falls from heights and, at the same level, to reduce the load for the back and joints, as well as to introduce the main principles of fire protection and so on. This tool is an easy way to improve working conditions for workers in the construction sector and its use can contribute to keep them healthy, motivated and with good work ability.
