Construction

The building construction sector which is mainly made up of micro and small companies registers high levels of work accidents. This sector is characterized by several risk factors, such as working at heights, moving loads, handling machinery and work equipment, the presence of dust and other hazardous chemicals, improper posture, noise and vibration, as well as adverse weather conditions. Accidents usually occur due to unsafe conditions and / or actions. This tool aims to contribute to an improvement of working conditions in the building construction sector, as it allows for an assessment of existing risks and suggests measures to be implemented to control these risks and produces an action plan to be implemented at the workplace.

This is not a favourable situation for private security guards, private security companies and customers. Private security guards are involved in preventing all types of risks and in serving the security of people, premises, processes and goods. Hence, necessaries measures must be taken to guarantee their own health and safety. This OiRA tool has been developed based on the tool of the EU agreed with EU sectorial social partners.

The most important risks are related to the use of machinery and other equipment such as knifes, dealing with dangerous chemicals, and being exposed to risks related to the general work environment, such as slippery floors etc. The tool helps employers to identify the specific risks in their company. In addition it guides the user not only through the risk identification but also helps in setting up an action plan to eliminate or mitigate the identified risks by proposing plenty of practical solutions.

The European social partners in the field of leather and tanning, IndustriAll and COTANCE, developed this tool that has been adapted to Catalan, as support for small and medium companies.
